From some years, the Serio River valley has a beautiful cycle path system that allows you to visit it conveniently by bike.
Partly from the disused route of an old railway, the Cycle Path of the Val Seriana is about 50 km long. It starts in Bergamo and ends in Valbondione.
Several stretches of the track are still dirt road, but still safe. You always ride along the river course without ever tackling too demanding slopes. The beginning of the actual route is located at the locality of Albino, about 14 km from Bergamo. If you wish, you can reach the village by tram from Bergamo, the bicycle transport is in fact permitted.
Many hikers and mountain bikers use cycle path to reach the dirt roads in the Orobie Alps area where the route ends.
PATH
In the first section of the Cycle Track of the Val Seriana you often cross bridges and walkways passing from one side of the river to the other. Along the way there are also numerous tourist signs that point out interesting places to visit such as the Paleontological Park of Cene and the Sanctuary of Saint Patrick in Colzate.
As you walk north, the landscape changes and the hills turn into mountains.
Once you arrive in Clusone you need to stop for a walk in the historic center. Inside the Oratory of Disciples you can admire a beautiful fresco representing the Death Triumph.
The Cycle Track of the Val Seriana continues to go into the Orobie Alps up to Valbondione. There are numerous hiking and mountain biking trails here: a paradise for nature lovers! In the summer you will not miss the spectacle of the Serio River Falls.
